Daniel Postgate - author/illustrator
About Daniel Postgate

Daniel Postgate was born one dark and stormy night in Whitstable in 1964 (the son of Oliver Postgate who made
Bagpuss). Legend has it that wolves, badgers, and other creatures of the darkness gathered at the gates of the hospital and let out their haunting howls of welcome.
After a nasty scrape with education he worked as an apprentice sign writer and painter of horse and sea-scenes on old chests, which served him well as an introduction to the dark arts of illustration. Eventually he moved to London to seek his fortune, and after a number of peculiar jobs, began work as a cartoonist. He worked for such organs as
The Sunday Times,
Loot (doing a weekly strip) and
The Radio Times.
In 1993 he wrote and illustrated his first picture book
Kevin saves the World, and from then on he forged a career in the children's book world. His book
Smelly Bill won the coveted Nottingham Libraries Children's Book Award. He now lives back in Whitstable with his partner and two children, working in a quaint little shed at the end of his garden. Ahh.
His hobbies include arguing with himself, pointless introspection and looking for his shoes.
